Northern Lights Huskie Hike

Join us for a 3-hour Arctic evening adventure in Abisko, together with a few of our friendly Alaskan huskies, as we head out in search of the northern lights.

We meet at the Abisko.net Hostel & Huskies reception, where your guide makes sure everyone is properly dressed and ready for the evening. Depending on the weather and snow conditions, we adapt the route and provide snowshoes when needed.

From here, we head into the landscapes of Abisko Valley, following quiet trails beneath the Arctic sky. The hike covers approximately 4 km roundtrip, including a gentle uphill section leading to an open viewpoint with wide views of the surrounding mountains and sky.

Along the way, we stop at scenic locations, keep an eye on the sky and enjoy the company of the dogs. Your guide will also be happy to help with simple tips for photographing the aurora.

We then continue to our lávvu, where we warm up by the fire with a hot drink and Swedish cinnamon buns. When conditions allow, we may also light a fire outside and spend some time beneath the open Arctic sky.

Winter evenings in Abisko can bring everything from calm, star-filled skies to snowfall, wind and rapidly changing conditions. The northern lights are a natural phenomenon and can never be guaranteed, but whatever the sky decides to do, our aim is to give you a genuine evening outdoors in the Arctic.

When it is time to head home, we make our way back toward the village by headlamp — and, with a little luck, beneath dancing northern lights.
